Peter and the Wolf


In this new animated adaptation of the classic fable set to Prokofiev’s musical score, Peter and his grandfather live in contemporary Russia, where threatening bullies line graffiti-daubed streets. The boy and old man live in depressing squalor in what looks like a makeshift army barracks. Outside is a decaying urban sprawl, yet the terrified Grandfather tries to prevent Peter from exploring the countryside with its dangerously inviting frozen lakes and giant, gnarled oaks.
